An interesting fact to note about used cars is that some people don't actually realise when they are driving one. They buy a new car, take it out of the forecourt on the road and then tell everyone that they are driving their new car. Actually, they are not.You see, once the car has been registered in your name and driven off the forecourt after you have signed the papers for it, it immediately becomes a used car. Yes, it could be 2 seconds old, but once it is only new when it hasn't been driven.
It fact, some people have taken to opening a new category – the nearly new car. This has been created for cars that are between 0 and 6 months old. Some new car dealers use a new car for demos, or will pre-register new cars to get them onto their books as a ‘sale'. Yet once they have done that then technically it is a used car.
What you should know is that once a new car turns into a used car it loses at least 20% of its value. So if you have ever been to a casino and lost money or gambled and lost on the horses, its probably nothing to what you lose the second you drive your new car away. Think about it, you have a new Ford Focus in your hands, worth, say £11,000, but 10 seconds later its worth about £9,000. That's a loss of £2,000 in about 10 seconds.
This is why a lot of people are happy to take a used car. Whilst you may not want to take used clothes and definitely not used underwear, a used car is perfectly acceptable.
